Accessibility Statement
Last updated: April 27, 2026
Next Level Barber Shop is committed to making its website at nextlevelbarbershopswfl.com usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. This statement describes the steps we have taken and how to reach us with feedback.
Conformance target
Our goal is to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 AA is the standard cited by Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for places of public accommodation.
Measures we have taken
- Semantic HTML. Pages use proper landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) and a logical heading hierarchy (h1 then h2 then h3) so screen readers can navigate without guessing.
- Alt text on images. Every photo of a haircut or the shop has descriptive alt text. Decorative graphics use empty alt attributes so screen readers skip them.
- Color contrast. Body copy on the dark theme passes WCAG AA contrast ratios (white text on black background, light gray on dark gray). The cyan accent (#2596be) on dark backgrounds also meets AA for large text.
- Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements (links, buttons, language toggle, lightbox close, mobile menu, FAQ accordion) work with the Tab key and Enter / Space. Visible focus rings are preserved.
- Touch targets. Mobile buttons and links meet the 44x44 px minimum from WCAG 2.5.5.
- Bilingual content. Every visible string has English and Spanish equivalents. The language toggle in the navigation switches all content client-side without a page reload, and the
langattribute on the html tag updates accordingly. - No motion-on-load animation that traps keyboard focus. The hero animation runs once and does not loop. Reduced-motion preferences are respected where possible.
- Form labels. The contact form on contact.html uses explicit labels tied to inputs by id.
- Lightbox dialog. The gallery lightbox uses
role="dialog"andaria-modal, traps focus, and closes with the Escape key. - Telephone numbers are linked with
tel:URIs so they dial directly on mobile.
Known limitations
We are aware of these areas that may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA:
- The embedded Google Maps iframe on the contact page is provided by Google. Its internal accessibility is governed by Google.
- The chatbot script (
chatbot.js) is third-party and may have its own accessibility characteristics outside our control. We work to ensure it does not block keyboard navigation of the rest of the page. - Some older blog post images may have shorter alt text than newer ones; we update these as we revise posts.
Physical accessibility at the shop
The shop at 140 Santa Barbara Blvd S, Suite 118, Cape Coral, FL 33991 is a ground-floor retail space with step-free entry from the parking lot. The lot has paved spaces directly in front of the entrance. We do not have a dedicated van-accessible space, but the standard spaces are wide enough for most mobility needs. The barber chairs are standard hydraulic; if you cannot transfer, call ahead and we will arrange to cut you in your wheelchair.
Feedback and assistance
If you cannot access content on the Site, you find an issue, or you need information in another format (large print, audio), please tell us. We aim to respond within 5 business days.

Continuing improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing practice rather than a one-time check. We test the Site with screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver), run Lighthouse and WAVE audits when content changes, and review feedback from users. The date at the top reflects the most recent review.
