Men's Hairstyle Trends in 2026: What Cape Coral Is Asking For
Five cuts dominate the chair in 2026: the textured crop, the mid skin fade with a longer top, the modern mullet, the bro flow, and the buzz with a beard. Numbers below come from our own April booking sheet.
What hairstyle is in for men in 2026?
The honest answer: there is no single trend. The 2026 men's haircut market splits into five solid camps, and the camp a guy lands in usually depends on age, hair type, and how much time he wants to spend in front of a mirror. Looking at our April 2026 chair sheet at Next Level Barber Shop, the breakdown across roughly 600 visits looked like this.
- Textured crop: 23% of visits.
- Mid skin fade with longer top: 28%.
- Modern mullet: 9%.
- Bro flow / longer length: 12%.
- Buzz cut + beard combo: 14%.
- Other (taper, classic side part, scissor cut): 14%.
The textured crop: why it dominates
A textured crop is short on the sides (usually a #1 or #2 guard, sometimes faded), with a 3 to 5 cm crop on top that has been thinned with point cuts or a razor. The top is messy by design. It sits forward over the forehead with the texture catching the light unevenly.
Why it works in Cape Coral: the climate punishes anything that needs gel or pomade. A textured crop styles itself with a few finger passes after a shower. No product, no comb, no mirror time. Done in 30 seconds. For office workers, dads, and anyone who wants a sharp look without a routine, the textured crop has become the default.
Ask the barber for: "Mid fade on the sides, 4 cm on top, point cut for texture, leave it a little messy." Cut time around 35 minutes. Price $30 (counts as a fade haircut).
The mid skin fade with a longer top
Same skin-fade structure as the textured crop, but the top is longer (5 to 8 cm) and styled in a clear direction: combed back, swept to one side, or pushed forward into a quiff. This cut wants product. Layrite Original (medium hold, water-soluble, 4.25 oz tin) is what most of our clients use. Suavecito Firme works for thicker hair.
This cut is the workhorse of the 25 to 35 male age bracket in Cape Coral. We see it constantly on guys driving in from Pelican Boulevard and from the Veterans Pkwy office buildings. Holds clean for 3 weeks, fuzzy by week 4, time for a touch-up by week 5.
The modern mullet (yes, still happening)
The 2026 mullet is not the 1985 mullet. Sides are skin-faded, the top is structured, and only the back is left long, usually 6 to 12 cm, just touching the collar. Often paired with a mustache or a soul patch. The style is loudest in the 19 to 28 age range and has stayed steady at about 9% of our cuts since mid-2024.
Worth knowing: a mullet looks chaotic to anyone older than 45. If you have a corporate job, run it past your boss before you commit. The grow-back from a true mullet to a clean classic cut takes about 4 months.
Bro flow and longer styles
Bro flow is medium-length hair (8 to 15 cm) styled to fall back from the forehead naturally. No product, no specific direction, no fade. Side hair tucks behind the ears, top hair flows back. The cut is a return to a 1970s aesthetic and works best on guys with thick, slightly wavy hair. Cape Coral's humidity is friendly to this style. The natural moisture in the air gives the hair body without product.
Maintenance is easier than it looks. A scissor trim every 6 to 8 weeks to keep the ends clean. No sides to fade, no line-up to maintain. The downside: it takes 4 to 6 months to grow into the style if you are starting from a short cut.
The buzz cut + beard combo
Hair on top kept very short (#1, #2, or #3 guard), beard kept medium-length (1.5 to 4 cm). The contrast between the short scalp and the fuller beard creates the visual weight. Easy to maintain, climate-friendly, and pretty forgiving on hair density. Thinning hair on top reads intentional with a buzz, not accidental.
Ask for: "Number 2 all over on top, blend the sides, beard line-up, square the jaw." Cut + beard combo at Next Level runs $43, takes 45 minutes total.
What is fading out in 2026?
Three styles we are seeing less of compared to two years ago.
- The hard part with a high fade: popular in 2021 and 2022, down to about 3% of cuts now. Replaced by the cleaner textured crop.
- The undercut (long top, severely shaved sides with no blend): replaced by the skin fade with a longer top, which gives a similar silhouette without the harsh contrast.
- The man bun: rare. Maybe 3 visits a month at this point, down from 12 to 15 a month back in 2020.
How do you pick the right 2026 cut for your face?
Quick guide based on face shape:
- Round face: mid skin fade with longer top, or a textured crop with height.
- Square face: buzz + beard combo, or a low fade with a clean side part.
- Oval face: anything works, including the modern mullet.
- Long face: bro flow or a low fade with a textured top, both add visual width.
- Heart-shaped face: textured crop. Adds weight to the lower face.
