What Does a Beard Trim Include?
A beard trim at Next Level is a 20-minute session covering hot towel to soften the hair, cheek and jawline shaping with a trimmer, hard lines with a straight razor or foil shaver, and beard oil at the close. The beard is worked around the shape of your face — your cheekbones, jawline, and neck height set where the lines fall. It is not a single template for everyone.
We serve Cape Coral, Fort Myers, North Fort Myers, Lehigh Acres, and Matlacha. SW Florida humidity demands different care than a dry climate — we cover that in the upkeep section below.
What Happens in the Chair
- Hot towel. Towel at about 50°C / 122°F to open pores and soften the hair. The difference from a dry trim shows up as less irritation the next day.
- Cheek and neck line. We set the cheek line at the natural mustache height and the neck line two fingers above the Adam's apple. A badly cut beard is spotted by a neck line set too high — we avoid that.
- Beard oil to finish. A pass of beard oil to hydrate the skin underneath and add shine. Especially useful in humid climates like SW Florida where AC dries the beard out.
How the Visit Runs
- Quick consult. The barber asks the desired length, whether you want a sharper or rounder shape, and looks at your face shape.
- Hot towel. 90 seconds on the face to soften the hair and open pores before any trimmer touches.
- Trim and shape. Trimmer with guard set to length, cheek and jawline, straight razor or foil shaver for hard edges.
- Close. Beard oil, hand mirror to check, talc for the neck. You pay cash or card.

Upkeep in Florida Weather
High SW Florida humidity (70-90% from June through September) affects facial hair: it curls, traps sweat, and the skin underneath irritates faster. Basic rules:
- Wash the beard with mild shampoo 2-3 times a week, not daily.
- Beard oil every morning — one to three drops by length, massage down to skin.
- Comb with a wooden comb, not plastic, to avoid static.
- Professional trim every 3-4 weeks to keep the shape. You can touch up the neck line at home — leave the cheek line to the barber.
